Brooks-Burbank Wedding
Jason (Jay_Bird) Brooks wed Liz Burbank Saturday, June 27, 2009 with a wonderful event in Northwest Portland, Oregon. Jason is Great-Grandson of Obed and Nanny Graham Matheny of Possum Corner, Mississippi. We welcome Liz to this great and historic family.

Matheny Memories
This family descended from Obed Matheny and Nanny Graham of Possum Corner, Clarke County, Mississippi. We are of solid stock, steeped in the United Methodist brand of Christianity. Lots of us are gainfully employed by churches. The others are active Lay Folks in their congregations.
We are family who enjoys gathering, remembering, and telephoning those who are not with us. Fond memories of childhood are times listening to the five siblings tell their family stories, growing up in Possum Corner, often disagreeing about details while loving each other for the joy of support through thick and thin.
The generation pictured (and our children), plus some who could not make it to the Memphis gathering are spread: Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Ohio, Texas, California, Oregon, and Washington.

My intention is to fine tune this into a blog where we can keep in touch, tell stories of our children/grandchildren, and document our lives for those who will look at the election of 2008 as a historic moment in the American adventure. Life after death is a mystery. However, I belief that we keep the Matheny Memories alive by such gathers and now with technology. Live ON!
